The oxtails at People's Choice Kitchen are so good! They are tender, flavorful and fall right off the bone. The portions are generous and the cabbage is soft. The curry chicken fell flat for me. There simply wasn't enough flavor.

One thing that most of the reviews here have in common is stating that they are slow, and yet people still choose to wait in line rather than go elsewhere. Do you really need more evidence that this place is good?
Let's talk about the fact that unlike most Jamaican/Caribbean establishments the attitude is through the roof! Here you will find courtesy and even service with a smile. If anything it's the customers that can get a little testy. This place has everything on their menu available which is less than what most other competitors can say.
The food here is always savory and sometimes even spicy. The patties are delicious and have a perfect crust but best of all is their variety offering spinach, veggie, chicken and beef. I love their spinach patties--yes they're better than the beef-- and I'm no vegan! I definitely recommend their oxtail plate but everything here is on par.
The place is clean, they give generous portions, and they offer delivery. I sure wish you could eat in with a large group but they only offer two high backed stools to sit in which is why I had to dock a star. No bathroom available to customers as this is take out. -

I use to love the food here but the wait was long and their quality control and customer service is not good. I ordered red peas soup and the soup had huge pieces of yam and potatoes not properly cut up. When I called and complained they were too busy assisting customers in the shop to acknowledge their poor quality of the food. Their suggestion was to bring the soup back for an exchange ( I was 1 hour away).
What I did enjoy was the sorrel I bought and the oxtails were decent . I use to love the food here but they need to get the quality control in place, timeliness of ordering. I passed by Caribbean Star on Lenox but my husband said he would drive me to People's choice because I loved their food for years - should have just stuck with Caribbean Star. I waited 15-20 minutes for my order and they did not seem to care. Competition of good food in Harlem is increasing, I hope they get it together. I may try them again in about 6-8 months - I want to support small businesses but they have to be worth supporting and listen seriously when customer has complaints. -

I ordered a stew chicken lunch special with rice and peace and lets just say I should've went else where. The chicken was very dry and the rice tasted like it was from yesterday! The rice was also over crowded with peas. I'm 100% Jamaican so I was not impressed. The only good thing was the cabbage. Will not be going back!

One good Caribbean food option in the area. Small spot with an awkward entrance and bulletproof glass counter. They usually have a curry chicken lunch special and everything else is regularly priced. I love the curry goat with cabbage and rice the best. Oxtail, porridge, and gravy is good too. I usually get a carrot juice with my food. Is it weird that I like their cabbage so thinly sliced?
The staff working in this place are not the friendliest and not the fastest.
